Bristol is in the south west of England, just across the sea from the south coast of Wales, at the Severn Estuary. It has grown up around the River Avon, which is wide here and a particularly attractive feature of this affluent city.

Harbourside

Much of the recent city centre development has been along the river, where you can find the Watershed multi-media centre and cinema at the Harbourside, the SS Great Britain at Bristol Docks, the Museum of Bristol and some particularly swanky riverside apartments. This area is now a great place to work and relax and is a recognised centre of heritage and culture. The famous Clifton Suspension Bridge here, hangs over Avon Gorge, creating a spectacular viewpoint.

Temple Meads train station provides a quick commute to London, which adds to Bristol’s popularity as a residential area. In fact, Bristol is the sixth most populous city. In addition to the riverside tranquillity, there are beautiful green spaces in Bristol,  such as College Green. Bristol is well known for great shopping, with a new shopping centre at Cabot Circus, and Broadmead. Bristol also has its own branch of Harvey Nichols!

For a great view of the whole city take a walk up to Cabot Tower at Brandon Hill park - well worth the walk for some spectacular views.
